The 4 Basic Bodily Processes:

  1. Digestion

  2. Absorption

  3. Utilization

  4. Elimination

These are 4 basic bodily processes to keep the balanced flow of energy throughout the body. If any of these are imbalanced, overburdened, and not working efficiently, it creates a ripple effect that causes an imbalance in the flow of energy throughout the body. This imbalance eventually affects your tissues, glands, organs, and your overall state of health. This is what one may label as disease or illness. We really should be eating for fuel to nourish the cells of the body for after all we are what we eat because eating is nothing more than an energetic exchange of information to be digested, absorbed, utilized, and eliminated, which are ongoing bodily processes. Knowing how the body works as an entire whole with every part intimately interconnected, will affect the overall state of health of the body.

So the digestion process is the first process that takes place when we consume any food. The major role and function in this process are to break the structure of what is consumed into material and fuel for the cells. The body requires raw material to build and repair its cells. This is the mission and goal when the body is in the digestive process.

Protein is broken down into amino acids, for repair and building material. Fats are broken down into fatty acids for emergency needs, repair, and building. Glycerol and carbohydrates are broken down into simple sugars for fuel. Yes, so this alone should debunk the animal protein, and all sugars are created equal myths but we will delve further into that another time.

The breakdown of food is accomplished through the enzyme activity from the live raw food ( Fruits & Veggies) which has its own and the body it is itself all through the digestion process. If our food is not properly broken down from poor food combining, weak pancreas, stomach, and intestinal tract. From this one can experience fermentation, gas problems, putrefaction which ripples effects into other issues with the other bodily process and can cause many bodily symptoms from this imbalacnement. It is vital to not only properly chew our food but to know how to eat, what to eat, and the ideal time when to eat for proper digestion.

Knowing what you eat matters!

Knowing what you eat matters, not just because this is what the body will use to become fuel for the cells that make up you. but also every time you do eat there is an alchemical process that takes place and you have an energetic exchange when transferring energy or consuming food. Each of these processes requires energy from the body itself to activate and do its job. When it comes to the digestion process which has a primary role of breaking down food into its most simplistic form. If you are consuming complex processed food, chemically man-made foods, or animal foods, the body not only cannot recognize it to properly chemically break it down, the body goes into a compromising state and it has to work harder to try to break the "food " down into raw material. Much of this so-called food the body cannot recognize and it causes a chain reaction for the body to be acidic to break down the material of this "food", not only because of lack of enzymes but because our bodies were not biologically designed to recognize or consume these chemically altered foods. This leads to the depletion of energy thus usually causing us to feel tired, bloated, fatigued, inflamed. Most of our processes are alkaline in nature. So due to the acidic nature of these "foods ", the body will try to balance the acidic state by pulling calcium from the bones and tissues and use it to increase the release of cholesterol, calcium, or any other alkaline material that is typically used for other things to balance the state it is in. The body could also produce mucus, which is a fatty, alkaline substance that buffers the acid from further damaging and irritating the body more than it already does.

If eating a processed, cooked, or what we call "modern western diet", or cooked acidic ash forming foods that create obstruction within the body. This not only causes the body to be deprived and prevents the other cells, organs, and glands from having adequate energy and fuel to properly function, but also hinders proper cell hydration. So yes, during the digestion process, if you are eating cooked food, aka dead food or food the body cannot recognize and has to compromise oneself chemically to process, this creates a wave of imbalances within the body. Not being able to properly digest causes stagnation and build-up of waste and dehydrated cells, thus causing a more sluggish system and less efficient, deterioration of the cells, even aging which leads to bodily symptoms that we know today as disease and illness. The proper food we are biologically designed to eat are simple raw fruits and veggies.

So you can now have a better idea of the ripple effect of eating food out of alignment with the biological makeup of the body can truly disrupt the body's state of health and ability to properly digest or do the other 3 of the basic bodily processes.

How you eat!

This leads to the next topic: proper food combining. Proper food combining is key to proper digestion. We now know the general effect of eating cooked, processed, animal products and how it can cause obstruction and imbalance within the body. We now know that fruits and veggies are fuels that our bodies are designed to properly digest, absorb, utilize and eliminate. It is not what we eat that matters, it is also how we eat the matters as well. As mentioned above, each time we eat, the body goes through an alchemical process through the 4 basic bodily processes. All is energy and all is chemistry, which is the energetic expression of different combinations and types of energy coming together. So when it comes to how we eat, food combining is essential because within the digestion process we have digestive enzymes starting in the mouth called amylase and lipase which break down starches into sugars and fats. Then in the stomach, we have an enzyme called pepsin which is an acidic enzyme that releases hydrochloric acid for protein digestion. Like we mentioned above, the digestive process's goal is to break everything down into raw and simple material to use as fuel. We then have the rest of digestion that takes place in the small bowels which are alkaline in nature. Each food you eat requires a digestion processing time and also causes slightly different chemical reactions that are required to properly digest. So food combining is essential and if poorly done can be just as damaging and dangerous as eating processed and chemically altered foods.

Above you can see, the different time's food spends in each part of the digestive system along with the average ph. So again, proper food combining is essential and the key to a more efficient and effective digestive process that reduces the amount of energy, and effort required to digest the food that has complex ingredients and combinations. Less is more and keeping it simple is key to a more efficient and effective digestive process. That is why Fruits and Veggies are made for our body are advanced, but simple in nature enough for our body to easily process and absorb and utilize properly. Not too long ago I wrote 2 articles called Keep it simple Mono-Eating Less is More and Fruit is the Most Superior Food for Healing, Hydration & Detoxification check them out as well.

If we were to eat food that is heavily cooked, greasy, processed, or meat, then later eat fruit or even the morning later eat fruits. If you look at the time food spends in each part of the digestive system this can cause fermentation and can cause alcohol to be formed in the digestive system due to poor food combining. This can lead to overgrowth of yeast and candida, cause a yeast infection, headaches, brain fog, fatigue, and more. Fruit requires way less for the body to properly digest, but also takes less time for it to be properly broken down versus the meat, processed or dead cooked food.

How Often You Eat is Major Key to Proper Digestion

Many of us over-consume food and eat from the moments we wake up until the moments we go to sleep. You even have those who get up mid-sleep to have midnight or late night snack or dessert. When we continually flood the body or continue to work with no break what tends to take place? It accelerates the body, the person, or the machine to burn out and breakdown. So not only are they not able to do their work efficiently, but they will start to lose focus, be overtaxed, or be tired.

In my article Food Addiction Series, we delve into Emotional eating which the majority of us do. We are not really eating for the nourishment of the body as we should, but for our emotional deficiencies. Many of us are starting to see benefits that take place when we don't need to consume 24/7 and reduce our eating window and saw an increase in energy and improvement in their health shortly after incorporating intermitted fasting and mindful consumption.

Intermitted Fasting

Intermitted fasting has been a growing movement that has totally help reduce bodily symptoms but improve a lot of people's state of health. Why? Well, how often do we eat? Earlier I mentioned how everything we consume in the form of food causes our body to work, work, work, work, work. It requires time and energy from our own body and if you are eating food that has been compromised by cooking, food that the body cannot recognize, or food that has been chemically altered, it causes more obstruction and taxing to the body which requires more time, energy, minerals, and hydration from the body. Which depending on what we are eating will determine how taxing it is to one's body. So just giving oneself a reasonable eating window would reduce the body being in a continual state of the digestion process and allow the body time and energy to be more effective in the digestion process. Narrowing the eating window, allows the body to preserve its energy to regenerate the areas of the cell in the body that needs to be regenerated and/or work on the other bodily processes. Also, this allows the body to get rid of recent waste and properly breakdown other material that is needed to breakdown instead of accumulating waste. This slows the aging process, reduces the stress on the body, and causes one to be a more mindful consumer or eater. This also allows the body to be more efficient. Ideally, I would suggest that my clients start off with a 16:8 eating window of 10:30 am- 6:30 pm.

I am now personally at a 20:4 eating window and that seems to work very well for me to stay focused on eating hydrating fruits, mainly mono meals, and some veggies. Now I do 24-72 hours of weekly fasting. You can check more about my personal holistic healing journey here on our vlogs as well as the title, My Holistic Life.
